For you to understand where this heart of mine is coming from, it might help to know that I grew up in a missionary family. I spent most of my formative years in Africa. I have been to a public school, a Christian school, a boarding school, and I have been homeschooled. I have been to 2 secular colleges and one Christian University. In all of my growing up years, I followed who my parents told me to follow…Jesus. As I became an adult, there were opportunities for me to choose other paths. However, a compass had been placed in my soul from the time I was a child. My decision at five to ask Jesus “into my heart” was not some juvenile, brainwashed decision, but was truly birthed out of a desire to please my Maker. That compass always pointed me north when I was at a crossroads. I believe that was because my parents cast a vision for me to follow. God’s hand directed my every step though I planned my own.
I believe that my faith is the most important aspect of my daily life. Nothing I do is blessed until it comes under the authority of God. My homeschooling and our vision for our family is just a bunch of words on paper until God breathes on it. I believe in His Holy Spirit as my guide and resource for comfort and direction. I believe in the Father of all creation being the One and only God and in His Son, Jesus the Messiah, who was sent to be the bridge between the Holy and unholy. I am His art work. He is my potter. The things of this world are temporary and therefore only people matter. They are eternal and my desire is to see the dying, hurting of this world be healed spiritually in order that they may fulfill the purpose for which they were created. Until we find Him, our purpose is undisclosed. I am not religious and liturgical. I am relational and free. My hope rests in His redemptive power to save me from myself.
Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for those encouraging words! I am a single mom and I just started home schooling my daughter a year ago, she is 5. Jesus is the best and He is the only reason we breathe!
ReplyDeleteWow! My hat is off to you! I love your determination and I know God will make your paths straight. Just don't give up on the goal as you move forward..You are more than a conqueror and the same spirit that raised Christ from the dead dwells within YOU so homeschooling should be somewhat of a breeze right?? LOL...Let me know if I can help you with anything!
