Names have been changed to tribal names to protect the privacy of our family.
I am "Turkana", a mother of 2 wonderful bush girls and 2 incredible bush boys. I grew up in Kenya, East Africa, though I am originally from Alabama. My home is truly where my family is. I have lived in 4 states and 3 countries and moved more than I can count in my life time, but my life has been filled with adventure and exposure. I homeschool this small tribe of mine and I am blessed beyond my wildest dreams through a family full of love for each other and most of all through Jesus my very best friend! I live to first bless Him and then to bless my family.
I have been married to my handsome bushman "Maasai" for almost 17 years. Although he does not have the true jumping power of the Maasai, he can move mountains in his prayer time, stand guard over his family in prayer when under siege and at the same time, gently guide our family back to a safe landing after a bumpy ride. He has a heart of leadership, always anticipating where that might lead us. He has seen his share of lost battles, but faithfully rises up in hope and honor. He is my true warrior.
"Embu" is our oldest. She is full of sweetness and love for Jesus and the world. She has lived 13 years with this tribe and we have decided she can continue on with us in our nomadic journey, a keeper for sure. Her compliant spirit is an oasis in a sometimes desert sand. She helps lead worship in our kid’s church and is showing great signs of following in daddy’s footsteps of leadership. Her heart for God is mature beyond her years.
Our second jewel is "Ameru" who is 10. She is spunky and fun, always making us take life less serious. Her liveliness is contagious and she has a heart of gold. Her energy is enough for the lot of us and sometimes in a fatigued family, she is the rest for our soul. She is unique in her abilities to see beyond the natural and feel deeply the spiritual. I admire her spiritual intensity.
Our next buried treasure is our first bush boy, "Dahalo". He is 8 and has earned every year of that, living life with strong emotion and will power. I say buried because as each year unfolds, we see more and more of the beauty that lies within. He has a wonderful voice that sets him apart with doe like brown eyes and cheeks that you could just eat up. My prayer for him is to be a man after God’s own heart.
Last, but certainly not least, is our baby "Luo". He is the darlingest thing you ever did see. At 4 years old, he lights up every room he enters and upon leaving there is a sense of loss. He draws smiles from everyone around him when he flashes his shining blue eyes and that precious smile. There is not a tear that falls from his eyes that my heart does not catch.
My life is a treasure trove. It is rich with family and friends that truly bless me.
